Building permits in Naperville, Illinois: what they show and who they help
Updated October 25, 2026.
Naperville issues building permits citywide, on both the DuPage and Will County sides of the city. Each permit is a public record of work someone has decided to pay for, which makes the permit list a lead source for contractors in that trade and the ones that follow it.
Where Naperville's permit records come from
The city publishes permits on a public EnerGov self-service site. Our Naperville pages cover the Will County part of the city.
For each permit, the public rows we show carry: trade, permit type, month, job value (rounded), status, contractor.
What we hold for Naperville
Coverage: Complete: every new permit since we started collecting (permits that carry a parcel in the city's system (1,015 of the city's 17,869 have none and cannot be placed in Will or DuPage, so they are not shown)); history from 2023-01-01; covers the Will County part of Naperville (35% of its area).
4,434 building permits we can share, from April 2019 to October 2026.
See Naperville building permits with masked sample rows, or Permit Leads for new permits by trade.
We offer a trade for a town only after checking that our sorting of that town's permits into it is accurate, so the trades listed above can change.
