HVAC permit leads in Illinois: furnace and air conditioner jobs from public permits
Updated October 25, 2026.
Replacing a furnace, boiler or air conditioner usually needs a mechanical permit in Illinois towns. Each one marks a household that has just spent money on heating or cooling, and a neighbourhood where equipment of the same age is wearing out.
How heating and cooling contractors use them
- Replacement waves. Subdivisions built in the same years tend to replace equipment in the same years.
- Service and maintenance. A new system is a household that may want a maintenance plan, a humidifier or better filtration.
- Remodels and additions. An addition or basement finish permit often means ductwork and a bigger system.
- Competitors. The contractor named on each permit shows who is winning work in which towns.
Seasons matter
Furnace permits bunch up in late fall and early winter, air conditioners in late spring and summer. Watching the permits as they are issued, rather than once a quarter, is what lets a contractor reach a neighbourhood while the season is still on.
