Solar permit leads in Illinois: where rooftop systems are going in
Updated October 25, 2026.
A rooftop or ground-mounted solar system needs building and electrical permits in Illinois towns. Solar permits show which neighbourhoods are adopting it, and which homes have owners willing to invest in their roof and electrical system.
Who can use solar permits
- Installers see where neighbours of new customers are likely to be curious next.
- Roofers see homes whose roofs were checked, and sometimes replaced, before panels went on.
- Electricians and battery or charger installers see homes with new service work and room to add more.
- Investors can see which properties carry a solar system, which matters when valuing them.
Reading solar permits carefully
Towns describe solar work in many ways: a building permit for the racking, an electrical permit for the inverter and connection, sometimes one combined permit. We sort each permit by its description, so one project can appear as more than one permit.
What we hold today
- Will County: 3,142 solar permits we can share, offered as leads in Joliet, Naperville (Will County solar leads).
- DuPage County: 349 solar permits we can share, offered as leads in Naperville (DuPage County solar leads).
- Rock Island County: 8 solar permits we can share.
We offer solar for a town only after checking our sorting of that town's permits. See Permit Leads, or read building permit leads for contractors in Illinois.
